One of the biggest decisions I had to make when I was a fresher living in halls was where to eat with my flatmates after a big night out. Nowadays, as a third year student with a much larger workload, more deadlines and less spare time, I tend to eat out less frequently. However, this might have to change after a recent visit to The Cat’s Pyjamas in Headingley. I love Indian food and, after seeing lots of amazing reviews and hearing my housemate say how nice it is, I was excited to see if it was worth the hype. We booked a table reservation online and headed down to see what all the fuss was about. When we arrived it was quite busy and our table was not free yet, however the staff were very accommodating and offered us a seat at the bar with some free poppadoms and dips while we waited. After a short wait our table was ready and we were shown there by a very friendly member of staff.

The food is absolutely amazing, it was easily one of the nicest Indian meals I’ve ever had and you get plenty for your money so I would recommend sharing sides. Between two of us, we opted to try a Chicken Tikka Masala and a Lamb Rogan Josh with pilau rice and a naan bread to share. They all came in separate dishes so we each tried both of the curries: the flavours were amazing in both and the rest of the menu sounded just as delicious.

The location of the restaurant is perfect for students living in Headingley or Hyde Park, and as of December a new branch will be opening in the city centre. My favourite part? It’s available for delivery on deliveroo, so even if your schedule is hectic, or your fresher’s flu is really bad, you don’t even have to leave your own pyjamas to enjoy it!
